“How amazing is this?” I thought, as we flew back from Mildura last Friday afternoon. I get to fly to Mildura for my job! Small plane, four-seater, low-flying and able to see the ground from the air all the way, and beautifully soft landings (because of the great weather the pilot said).
And what an exciting and challenging day it had been. Thorough preparation beforehand meant that I had everything I needed to set up all the gear remotely, so the beginning of the day went smoothly. During the day I learnt how I could better demonstrate so that not only my words and hand gestures, but also my acting out of the tests during the tests, helped a couple of patients perform much better. The staff at the Aboriginal Health Centre could not have been nicer or more helpful. Then the mad scramble at the end of the day to pack up everything and organize for the DLCO gas cylinder to be packaged ready for sending back separately. My first trip to Mildura was a real buzz.
